Within the vast universe, men move by using force vessels, which range from the tiniest to the most gigantic, with increasing complexity.
The simplest propulsion is also the oldest: The fusion of hydrogen. Clean, economical and efficient when properly operated, it is used as the basis of traction for all flying, floating, rolling planetary vehicles. Small touring vessels also use it but also the old interplanetary tankers and LNG tankers, which are slow but have plasma turbines based on hydrogen-containing condensers. This very economical system allows them to rally from the land, Uranus in about 3 months. It should be noted that these same freighters and LNG tankers compensate by their dimensions and their carrying capacity: 20 kilometers and 10 million tons embarked.
Still for travel within the same system, the most beautiful of these spaceships are the noises with photonic capture, also called more simply the solar sails. They capture the solar wind and its photons on large sails, feeding a fusion capacitor and a plasma turbine, which succeed in propelling modest vessels, usually small naves, cruises, yachts and private spacecraft. Their speed is about 0.7 parsec / hour. They can thus join two planets as far apart as Mercury and Pluto in less than 2 weeks.
To connect two stars, therefore, one had long been dependent on plasma breeder reactors. This energy actually exploited fusion piles within a critical mass, utilizing the sinteractions that are responsible for the ignition of a star. (Pulsed turbine). This system dates back to the middle of the 4th millennium and allowed a ship to connect Solsys from Proxima Centauri (4.5 AL) in 45 years. This propulsive system was therefore worth one-tenth of the light speed, but required incredible quantities of hydrogen. It was the only one known and used throughout human colinization until the 6th millennium, when anti-matter became the majority.
This last source of energy was not domesticated until the 5th millennium. It used the most fundamental interactions, those located just above Planck\'s wall. Attempts had been made to master the one which transformed the universe from theoretical point of view to its dramatic expansion (energy of the big bang), but this Holy Grail of energy was never mastered. The risks to the environment were too great. The Wall of Light being impassable, these ships, despite their debauchery of energy, could move only at this speed and so rally the stars in a few years. On the other hand, the temporal paradox made the crew and the passengers see this journey as almost instantaneous.
It was not until the seventh millennium that this energy was finally domesticated. Thanks to a concentrator, a structure at the front of the vessel capable of creating a critical mass effect causing a vortex in which the vessel was engulfed, yet it created by its own mass a wake generating small black holes and waves capable of Modify the severity of the affected planets, sometimes to more than 50 ALs. In order to avoid this, the rare vessels using this energy circulated around the galaxy on a plane perpendicular to their rotation. On the other hand, these "universe-ships" were moving between galaxies more generally.
Hierarchy.
The complexity of these modes of propulsion being proportional to their dangerousness and the rigor of their control, the dimensions of the vessels using them were increasing; Moreover, these considerable differences in speed led to the practice of "mother vessels", embarking all the others. Thus, for interstellar relations, apart from the hypergates, very large carriers (over 100 km) were developed capable of carrying cargo and methane tankers and shuttling between systems. For the more distant connections (more than 100 AL), "super-carriers" were developed, XXL mother vessels, over 1000 Km and more, equipped with their own "captors" of hyperlite field, capable of creating their own vortex.
The world-class vessels, even larger, are of this category and divide themselves between hyper- carriers of more than 10,000 km (the diameter of a beautiful terrestrial planet), and the world-makers (Womers). The latter easily reach the 55 000 km long.
